As you enter the villa high double gates open onto a vine covered veranda and from here an entrance door leads to an airy ground floor living area, with stone floor, fireplace and decorated touches of a Cretan traditional village style. To one side a large breakfast counter with pine shelving separates the fully equipped kitchen. Against one wall is the large dining table and chairs and opposite here doubles doors lead out to the huge veranda covered by a vine arbor with panoramic view to the sea and the coastal line of Souda Bay. Here a wooden large table and chairs can offer a marvelous breakfast staring at the blue sea waters or a romantic dinner watching the captivating sunset.
On the other side of the living room there is a sitting area with a fitted sofa, plus chairs and a coffee table grouped around the warm fireplace. Beyond here seven stone-steps lead up to a small hallway with doors off, to a full bathroom with washing machine, plus an airy and spacious double bedroom with a window offering wonderful sea view. Off the hallway to the rear is a further bedroom with a double bed, a romantic mosquito-net and window overlooking the entrance courtyard below. This bedroom also has two single beds into a sleeping gallery above and accessed by a small pine staircase. The sleeping gallery has its own little windows looking out over the rooftop towards the sea.
Both bedrooms have adequate wardrobe space. A baby cot bed is provided upon request. Sheets, towels and beach towels are also provided.
The property benefits from extensive garden, olive trees, vines and fruit trees, which the guests are free to taste. The lovely courtyard area provides the perfect spot for relaxation and cooling under the fresh shade of the vine arbor, or for a very peaceful sunbath under the vital sun of Crete. There is also a movable BBQ, where you could make your own meals with fresh fishes or local meat. Sun beds are provided. The villa has also an outside shower near the main veranda, in a private spot, and an area for parking just beside the house.
All rooms are air-conditioned (this also provides heating during cooler months) and there is free Wi-Fi. For entertainment there is a Smart TV and a selection of books and magazines. The house has a solar panel, so there is hot water all day when the sun shines.

Area
This Villa stands on the edge of the hillside at the end of the traditional Cretan village of Kokkino Chorio, where the famous movie "Zorba the Greek" was filmed , on a quiet, enviable position, 40 meters only from a little square in the heart of the village. It was the main Cafenion (traditional coffee bar) of the village and without doubt its most captivating feature is the huge vine covered terrace on the seaward side with absolutely mesmerizing, panoramic view of the coastline below. There, in a bygone age, the old men of the village, sat looking out the Souda Bay, wondering when the next pirate ship might appear over the horizon!
This villa is ideal for those who wish to have peaceful vacation, with everyday swimming in the sea at the nearby beaches and to experience the hospitality of the Cretan people and the local traditions, with the added advantage of enjoying breathtaking panoramic view of the sea and the mountains. It is also a great base from which you could explore Crete.
The villa is within walking distance of a well stored mini market for the general supplies and a local tavern serving excellent Greek food at convenient prices. The village of Kokkino Chorio has also a Blowing Glass Workshop, using the traditional technique.
Moreover, the villa is just a short drive from nearby beaches. A small beach with clear blue water called "Koytalas" is 3 minutes away by car (20 minutes by feet) and the main sandy beach of Almyrida is only 5 minutes away. At Almyrida village there are also a variety of traditional tavernas, restaurants, café bars and shops and some water sport facilities are offered, such as windsurfing, snorkelling and canoe.
Around
Crete has everything you that could possibly want from a holiday: soaring mountains that are snow capped from November to June, many great walking trails including Europe's deepest gorge, ancient archaeological sites and Minoan palaces, quaint villages, sparkling clear blue seas with tavernas serving freshly caught fish, golden beaches, glorious wild flowers in the Spring, and a variety of delicious foods which are all made from healthy home grown produce.
As incredible as the island is, it is the Cretan people who will make your holiday truly memorable. Descendants of the Minoan's, one of Europe's earliest civilizations, and shaped by centuries of struggle against oppression, the Cretans are as rugged as the mountains, fiercely independent but passionately friendly.
